Part-time or reduced timetables
In very exceptional circumstances, there may be a need for a temporary part-time or reduced timetable to meet a student's individual needs. For example, where a medical condition stops a student from attending full-time education or a reduced timetable is considered as part of a re-integration package.
Ofsted states that information about children missing from education is essential, and you must notify us of any part-time education arrangements. This includes:
- schools we maintain
- academies
- free schools
- independent schools
We have published updated guidance to set out the process for you to notify us when a child is placed on a part-time or reduced school timetable.
Download the part-time or reduced timetables guidance.
You must notify us if:
- child who is of compulsory school age placed on a part-time/reduced timetable and not currently receiving full-time educational provision
- an update to a notification you have already submitted
- nil return (no new cases)
Completing this form is classed as a notification and not a referral.
After completing this form, you will only be contacted if we need more details or to offer advice where there are concerns about the length of the arrangement.
